The Gift

The Gift

48×48 acrylic, pastels & coal.

I wish you could see the real colors on this piece, this photograph doesn’t do it justice.  It’s currently stuck in New York, so maybe I should call it “Stranded”.

One day I put coal in my hands and danced in front of the canvas….and from hearing #41 the first time, lines formed on a canvas as color burst across my body. This painting is called The Gift; and the gift is acknowledging that I hear & feel music differently.

It isn’t really learned, more so developed from what was already there. Each sound and rhythm varies in color, movement and texture within me. One has to move with all that beauty swirling around.
